Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14) Our intention is to give children our top priority and not an afterthought. When the children worship with us, we give them special attention with the Mystery Box.
We also engage them in our special prayer times and some have been active in worship. We are encouraged that sometimes our children are willing to stand in front of a whole congregation and share about the goodness of God. This means that our children feel that they are part of our church family and are accepted as such.
When we respect our children in a worthy manner, our Junior High students understands that since we respect the children, we respect them. Our teens understand that since we respect the Junior Highers, we respect them. Our students feel that since we respect our teens, we respect them.
Our young adults understand that since we respect our students, we respect them. The way that we treat our children results in a chain reaction that fosters an environment of respect eliminating many from engaging in petty politics.
